The Best Freezer Sandwich: Meatball Subs

Over on The Cook’s Channel I am sharing my favorite sandwiches for different occasions and my Hungry No More Meatball Sub is the best freezer sandwich!

I love making a big batch of these meatballs and then freezing half the batch to later have on hand!

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup panko or breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 3 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tsp Worcestershire sauce

For the Sauce:

  • 1 (32 ounce) jar pasta sauce (Rao’s is my favorite)

For the Sandwich:

  • Hoagie roll
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Mozzarella cheese (slices or shredded)

For serving:

  • Favorite potato chips

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

For the Meatballs:

For the Sandwich:

  1. Serve with your favorite potato chips and plenty of napkins!

 

*For Freezing:

Place half of the uncooked meatballs in a freezer safe container or bag and freeze to use later. These will stay good in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you are ready to cook, thaw in the refrigerator overnight and cook according to above instructions.

For the remaining half of pasta sauce, place in a freezer safe bag. Lay flat and freeze until ready to use with the meatballs.
