So, this was the post I originally published for last week’s Around Our Table. It’s the one that got unpublished so I could share my broken heart (also, I have a post on Monday as a follow-up so stay tuned).
But this post is bright and sunshine filled and I think we need some of that this week!
September is here. I love new months! I love back to school season. Because I love school supplies.
I love all things goals and checklists. Beau and I talk about this a lot because on the Meyers Briggs I am an ENFP – which means I don’t like structure.
I am more of a “go with the flow” gal who is always up for surprises and spontaneity. Anything scheduled can get me a little anxious.
But when it comes to work or my daily routine: I plan, I organize, I have all the lists. I think I started to do this out of desperation when I left college and entered the working world. You know, for survival.
What are you on the Meyers Briggs? I love geeking out on all things personality types. We’ll talk about this more in weeks to come.
Speaking of back to school, here is my back to school picture from kindergarten that went horribly wrong:
First of all, this was supposed to be a back to school picture. Except my sister and I woke-up in the middle of the night the morning before and had a great idea – we should cut each other’s hair for the first day of school! Needless to say mom came into our room that morning to find two sleeping beauties with gaps in our bangs! And nestled between us? A mess of cut hair & a pair of scissors.
I believe we stayed home that day.
Did you know? It has been tomato season. I was flipping through pictures on my phone and I came across some photos my sister got of me at a farmer’s market.
Please notice that I am eating what they call a gourmet ice cream bar. Dipped in dark chocolate. This is in fact my new favorite farmers market. Also, I am really into what that farmer is telling me.
My mom brought me a little snack yesterday from her garden. So much joy when I saw it. That is a PEAR tomato. It looks just like a pear.
The cutest little guy.
What are you making with all your tomatoes? This recipe is one of my favorite tomato recipes.
And now for your Friday reading enjoyment! This post, Blessed Are the Small, from my friend Bekah. It’s beautiful, it’s poignant and it’s one gorgeous deep breath for us all.
I hope your weekend is filled with good food, all the big hearts, and some rest.
You are amazing. Also, the Email video= HILARIOUS. SPOT ON. PERFECT.
