Units Scale
  • 1.5 oz tequila
  • 1 oz mezcal (or just 2 oz of tequila if you don’t want to use mezcal)
  • 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz orange simple syrup (see below for recipe)
  • juice from half a lime
  • Tajin and salt for rim

Orange Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup superfine white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • peels from 2 oranges

Instructions

  1. Run the wedge of a lime along your glass.
  2. In a small plate add some salt and Tajin. Mix to combine.
  3. Turn the rim of the glass in Tajin and salt mixture.
  4. Add a large ice cube to the glass.
  5. In a shaker filled with ice add the tequila, mezcal, grapefruit juice, orange simple syrup and juice from half a lime.
  6. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into salt rimmed glass. Cheers!

Orange Simple Syrup

  1. Remove any wax from oranges by placing them into a heat safe bowl or sauce pan and pouring boiling water over them (enough to cover them).
  2. Let them sit in the water for 5 minutes. Remove the oranges and use a cloth to wipe wax off. Wash under the sink.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium low heat add 1 cup water and 1 cup superfine white sugar. Allow to come to a simmer for about 10 minutes or until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Remove from heat and add orange peels. Cover pan and allow orange peels to steep for about 20-30 minutes.
  5. Strain liquid into a jar with an airtight lid. Can stay in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
